Acquisition/Provenance: Cordy’s Jewellery, Decorative & Fine Arts sale, 13 September 2022, lot 39. Cat. Note/Ref.: Bust from a Besti-Fang reliquary ensemble, wood. The carved wooden head raised on a columnar neck and with tripartite flattened coiffure. Compare with the guardian head in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum, New York (1979.206.229).
